Common grid sizes and how many whole squares fit on A4 with the default 10 mm margin. Use a row to load it as a square grid. For grade levels, subjects and paper sizes, see the graph paper sizes and uses guide.

Print at true size

The PDF page is exactly the paper size you chose and the lines are vectors, so a 5 mm square is 5 mm — as long as the printer does not rescale it.

  1. Match the paper. Pick the same size here as the paper in your printer. 11×17 (Tabloid) and A3 need a printer with a large-format tray, or a copy shop.
  2. Turn scaling off. In the print dialog choose Actual size or Scale: 100%, not “Fit to page”.
  3. Keep a margin. Most printers cannot reach the outer 3–5 mm. The default 10 mm margin keeps every line on the paper.
  4. Measure once. Print one page and check ten squares with a ruler — 10 × 5 mm should read 50 mm.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and there is no account. There is no upload step either — the sheet is drawn in your browser and the files are created on your device.

How do I get a PDF or PNG?

Press Download PDF for a vector file at the exact paper size, with 1–10 identical pages. PNG gives a 300 dpi image (200 dpi for A3 and 11×17 Tabloid, to stay within browser image limits). SVG opens in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma, and Print sends the sheet straight to your printer.

What spacing should I use?

5 mm is the standard for European exercise books and general maths. 10 mm is easier for younger children. In the US, quad paper is usually 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and engineering pads use 1/5 inch (5.08 mm). For bullet journals, 5 mm dot grid is the usual choice. The sizes and uses guide goes through each one with ready-made links.

Why does my print look slightly smaller than the setting?

The printer or browser scaled the page to fit. Set Scale to 100% (or Actual size) in the print dialog. When printing from the browser, also set Margins to None; the generator already keeps the grid inside a safe area.

Is anything uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens locally. Your last settings are remembered in this browser's local storage so the page reopens where you left off; use Reset to the example sheet to clear them.

Which paper type suits squared maths work?

Square grid with Heavier line every 5 squares switched on. You get the familiar 5 mm grid with a visible 25 mm block structure, which helps keep columns aligned.

Can I use these sheets at school or at work?

Yes. The generated sheets are yours to print and hand out, including in classrooms and for commercial work. No attribution is required.
